(Understandable, since Microsoft’s “Office” is firmly placed as the number one program of its kind in homes and offices the world over). Many people have never even considered an alternative, and there are some excellent ones to be had. In fact, one of the free alternatives we feature below could easily become your favourite!

Another free office program to investigate is Lotus Symphony. Lotus have been in the productivity suite industry for many years and have produced some superb work, including the once highly popular Lotus 1.2.3. They are now offering an entire office suite completely free of charge.
