Free Posters & Guides From The Open University
The Open University has over 25 free posters and information booklets available to request. These learning materials cover a variety of topics, especially history and science. A short registration is required. If you encounter issues when ordering online, a helpline is available.
Just some of the materials available to request can be found below.
“A journal of working class life”: A free booklet used to accompany the BBC One television series, “Paul O’Grady’s Working Britain”. This publication looks at work, leisure, housing and asks a number of questions about working life, covering topics such as trade unions, the media, equality, and more.
Wild Weather poster: A poster designed to accompany “Wild Weather”, a recent BBC series. This impressive poster provides a snapshot of popular weather phenomenon, such as cyclones, tornadoes, thunder and lightening.
“Britain’s Great War”: A booklet discussing the realities of the First World War, known as the Great War. Request “The First World War Experienced” by completing the online registration.
“How Nature Works”: Discover the mysteries of our living planet with this booklet centred on nature. The publication looks at the relationships between plants and animals.
Free Stargazing guide: A guide for amateur astronomers and anyone interested in getting into astronomy. At the time of writing, the print version was out of stock, but you could still download and print a PDF copy. Designed to accompany the BBC television series, “Stargazing Live”, starring Brian Cox.
