Virgin Radio - At Virgin Radio's terrific Web site you can listen live to four of their online radio stations and nearly 1,000 acoustic tracks, all for free. The original Virgin Radio, broadcasting on 1215 AM in the UK can be heard via their Webcast, along with a classic songs station (Virgin Radio Classic Tracks), a soul station (Radio Groove) and a pop station (Liquid).
XstreamRadio - A superb freeware radio player that allows you to listen to online Webcasts. This player contains more than 700 international pre-programmed radio stations, which you can listen whilst working on your PC. With the integrated MP3 recorder you can easily record music or your favourite program from the station of your choice. XstreamRadio is approximately 2MB in size.
Talk Sport - This was the UK's first online sport radio station. Talk Sport broadcasts up-to-the-minute sports news, results, opinions and even live games, plus UK sport fans abroad can access these broadcasts from anywhere in the world. Ideally, you will require a 56K modem or higher in order to listen. Anything less and you may experience random interruptions.
Live-Radio.net - This UK-based Web site has been a favourite of FreebieList.com for a number of years now. If you're into radio, we guarantee you'll find something to suit your taste here. They offer thousands of real-links to Internet radio webcasts. People using Microsoft Windows will require the latest version of RealPlayer to listen to the broadcasts (many other programs can also be used).
SHOUTcast - SHOUTcast is Nullsoft Winamp's distributed audio streaming system. It comes in the form of a rather nifty freeware program that is available to download from their site. Once you've got this, you may access a large number of free online radio broadcasts in the SHOUTcast directory and optimise them depending on your Internet connection. You'll find the site is integrated with Winamp.
BBC Radio 1 - Here, you can listen to the nationally broadcast BBC Radio 1 radio station directly through your computer, for free. And, if you miss any scheduled programs whilst at school, work, or when you're otherwise away, you can catch up with a selection of archived shows. Please note that for the full Web radio experience, you will ideally require an Internet connection greater than 56K.
Capital FM - The home page of Capital FM is as original as they come. It is full of the latest entertainment news, events and DJ profiles. You can even take a virtual studio tour. Capital FM was one of the first stations to broadcast over the Internet and is still providing some of the most reliable webcast connections. Also here, you can find links to other "Capital" group Web radio stations.
BBC World Service - As long as you have a decent Internet connection (56K minimum) you can hear the BBC World Service. For best results use Real Player 8.0 or similar. Specific areas of their site are devoted to the regions of the World Service is broadcasting to, some of these are Africa, Europe, Middle East and America. Archives are provided, should you miss a favourite program.
